From Deprivation to Abundance without any habit change – A sleep experiment

I had a vice no one knew.

It was extremely difficult for me to peel myself out of bed.

Regardless my early morning workout routine or surfing session, it took huge amount of mental work in those 2 mins to work up my will power to get out of bed.

If a day’s schedule allowed, I could toss and turn in the bed for more than an hour to finally face those 2 mins.

In some way, it was such an embarrassing trait for me.

Several months ago, at an inspiring whim, I decided to test how my mind, spirit and body could really work together.

It’s said that our body knows.

It sends us message to guide us from the spirits through physical sensations and emotions.

As ever curious,

“Can I reverse engineer this?”

If the body knows, then, I shall need not alarm clock which I was depend on heavily, to wake up.

In the evening, when I was closing the day, the last thing I did was

➡️ Open my calendar

➡️ Tune in to connection with my spirit/soul/higher self

➡️ Visualize my next day’s schedule with my eyes open

➡️ Decide whether to go surfing or not (Or I tell the body I let it decide for me)

When I feel the schedule is recorded in my mental memory and the body, I close down and go reading/meditation/to bed.

If I had very early schedule, I would set the alarm to the last minute just in case.

The number of times I relied on the alarm were minimal in the past several months.

I used to force myself to wake up every morning for surfing. I started to ask the body to discern my condition for me. And if I really want to go, it supported me.

💎 The body really knows and is capable of discerning what’s best.

I used to believe that I couldn’t wake up without help if I didn’t have 8+ hours sleep but it was not true. Many occasions I had to wake up with only 4 hours of sleep and I did!

💎 It has its own way of balancing the need of sleep over time if it knows I will heed its wisdom.

I used to wake up immediately with the sense of being deprived of rest and hurried into the day since I was always shocked out of sleep by the alarm.

💎 I now wake up at whatever hours trusting that the day is specially set for me.

Through the process, as a bonus,

💎 The habit of linger on the bed and the inertia of dragging are gone.

Now my mind and my body are working together to help me to get into the day.

When the mind, body, soul all working towards the same direction, effortlessness is a norm.
